It started with 28 knives (and a little luck)
It all started with the search for my first real pocket knife. I found the new prices ridiculously high for a quality tool. I thought: there had to be a better way. I started searching on second-hand platforms for a cheaper alternative.
After some searching, I found a batch of 28 pocket knives for only 20 euros. I bought them all.
When the package arrived, I suddenly found myself with 28 knives. Far too many for one person, of course. I picked out the nicest ones for myself, cleaned the rest, and put them up for sale again. And guess what? There was a huge demand. With the profit, I bought another batch, and then another.
From dealer to specialist. What started as a clever way to acquire a knife cheaply quickly grew into a passion for quality. Initially, it was simply buying and reselling. But the more knives I handled, the more I learned about steel quality, mechanics, and durability. I learned to distinguish between cheap junk and tools that last a lifetime.
That passion has since evolved into The Second Standard. The "random lottery tickets" of the past have given way to a tight, professional selection of premium brands like Leatherman and Victorinox.
