The Benchmade 551 Griptilian is designed by Mel Pardue and uses the patented AXIS-lock mechanism. This mechanism is fully ambidextrous and locks the blade via a steel bar that is spring-loaded into the tang of the blade. The handle is made of Grivory, a fiberglass-reinforced nylon, with a diamond-shaped textured profile for improved grip. This particular model features a blade made of 154CM steel, an American steel known for a good balance of edge retention, toughness, and corrosion resistance. This specific steel variant has since been replaced by S30V by Benchmade, making this item relevant for collectors of older production runs.

- Grade C: Clearly heavily used. Expect visible scratches, dents, or dull spots. A true work knife.

No nasty surprises or stuck tools. Each item is individually inspected and hand-cleaned by us. We remove old grease and grime and treat the pivot point with premium Ballistol oil. You'll receive a knife that's clean, runs smoothly, and is ready for a second life.

The warranty covers technical defects not caused by your own fault. For Outlet items, the warranty does not cover defects that were already mentioned/visible at the time of sale.
