Thanks to the gearing, the hand force on the pliers is doubled, resulting in superior cutting and gripping power. This specific example is unique due to the laser engraving on the handle: NSN 5110-01-566-6638 . This NATO Stock Number (NSN) confirms that this tool is officially cataloged for use by NATO forces, with the country code "01" referring to the United States. As an EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) variant, the pliers are equipped with a blasting cap crimper for detonators instead of the standard jaw.
