The Leatherman Signal is a multi-tool specifically designed for outdoor, camping, and survival applications. This model, available in the "Black & Silver" color scheme, combines a stainless steel housing with black-coated tools. Unique to the Signal are its integrated survival features: a removable ferrocerium rod (fire starter), a safety whistle, and a diamond sharpening rod. The tool is also equipped with a 420HC combi blade, a saw, a bit holder, and a hammer section on the underside of the frame. The coordinates of Leatherman's headquarters in Portland (45° N 122° W) are stamped on the housing.
Stands:
- Blade & Tools: The black coating on the combination blade, saw, and pliers head shows wear on the edges and contact surfaces, exposing the steel. The cutting edge of the blade is free of nicks.
- Handle: The stainless steel frame is neat with light scuffs. The black coating on the hammer and snap hook shows wear from contact.
- Mechanism: The pliers and tools hinge smoothly. The liner locks work properly. The plastic housings of the sharpener and whistle are intact and present.
