The Wenger RangerGrip 79 is the direct predecessor of the current Victorinox version and marks the transitional period in which Wenger introduced the innovative dual-density handles. This model combines a one-handed opening blade with a robust wood saw. The handle features red plastic scales with black rubberized inlays for extra grip (anti-slip). The blade is released by pressing the Wenger cross. This example was produced in Delemont, Switzerland, before Victorinox fully integrated the brand.

Stands:

  • Blade: The blade is ground smooth (plain edge) and shows light scratches and signs of wear on the flanks. The edge is intact.
  • Handle: The scales show Significant damage. The black rubber overmold is peeling in several places and showing wear/damage at the ends, a known aging phenomenon in the first generation of RangerGrips.
  • Mechanism: The button lock functions properly. The saw blade is straight and sharp. The tools open and close with a firm snap.
  • Tools: The corkscrew, awl and openers are functional, but show light oxidation in the deeper parts.

Transparency Grading

We are strict in our assessment so that you will only be pleasantly surprised upon receipt:

  • Grade A: In excellent condition. May have minimal signs of storage, but is in a very neat, unused condition.
  • Grade B: A fair item. May contain normal scratches or other signs of previous use, but is 100% technically sound.
  • Grade C: Clearly heavily used. Expect visible scratches, dents, or dull spots.
